Prudence Screen Reader is an accessibility tool, for helping blind, visually impaired and other people to lead independent lives by making android phones easier to access With perfect screen reading function and multiple ways of interaction.interface.

Prudence Screen Reader includes:

  • Main function as a screen reader: Get spoken feedback, control your device with gestures, and type with the on-screen keyboard
  • Accessibility Menu shortcut: To direct to the System Accessibility Menu on one click
  • Touch to speak: Touch on your screen and hear the app read the items aloud
  • Customize Voice Libraries: Choose the voice you like to hear as feedback
  • Custom gesture: Define the actions with desired gestures as the actions
  • Customize Reading control: Define how the reader reads the text, e.g., line by line, word by word, character by character, and etc
  • Level of detail: Define what detail the reader reads, such as element type, window title, etc

To get started:

  1. Open your device’s Settings app
  2. Select Accessibility
  3. Select Accessibility Menu, installed apps, then choose “Prudence Screen Reader”

New Features

  1. OCR Recognition Function: Two new OCR features have been added, including screen recognition and OCR focus recognition. The OCR functionality now supports Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Please set the desired language in the "OCR Target Languages" option under PSR Advanced Settings.
  2. Voice Input Function: The voice input feature no longer relies on the keyboard’s voice input but can be directly activated using a shortcut gesture to start the PSR voice input function. Please set the desired voice input language in the "Voice Input Language" option under PSR Advanced Settings.
  3. Built-in eSpeak Speech Engine: The eSpeak speech engine has been added to PSR. You can select the PSR speech synthesis option in PSR’s voice settings to use eSpeak for speech synthesis.
  4. Physical Keyboard Shortcuts: After this upgrade, PSR can be controlled directly through a physical keyboard connection with shortcuts to operate PSR.
  5. Tag Management Function: The tag management feature allows users to edit, modify, delete, import, export, and back up/recover named tags.

Bug Fixes and Optimizations

  • Fixed an issue where the user center’s backup and restore functionality was not working.
  • Fixed an issue on some Samsung devices where the operation status of certain switch controls was not being read.
  • Fixed an issue on some Samsung devices where there was no voice prompt for mainscreen’s page flipping.
  • Fixed an issue in Google Play where certain element names could not be read aloud.
  • Fixed an issue in Speedy Mode where some control elements could not be focused and read aloud.
  • Fixed an issue in Speedy Mode where elements could be focused but not read aloud.
  • Optimized the stability of Speedy Mode functionality.
  • Optimized the built-in Aikit speech engine, resolving a potential crash issue in weak network environments.
  • Fixed some known crash issues.
  • Other minor bug fixes to enhance overall application stability.
