BHP Celebrating Pakistan Day
On March 23, Pakistani’s proudly celebrate “Pakistan Day” annually. It is to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940, as well as the implementation of the country’s constitution of 1956. Both represent the fight and success of a separate homeland for Muslims under British rule throughout India. In Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, a parade is held on Constitution Avenue, and the president gives out military and civilian awards in order to recognize the achievements and contributions made towards the nation. To further express patriotism, special prayers are made for peace and prosperity, flags are seen hoisted on top of public and governmental buildings, and specials are broadcasted on radio and television shows. A change of guard is held at the mausoleums of Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who were both influential leaders in the creation of Pakistan. Insha’Allah may we always remain committed, stand up for justice, and defend our beautiful nation until the end.
”Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but the Muslim Ideology which has to be preserved, which has come to us as a precious gift and treasure and which, we hope other will share with us.” (Muhammad Jinnah)
